For many a new year comes with new dreams and new resolutions. But often, we find it difficult to meet these goals as the year wears on. For years, I’ve taken a piece of paper and a pen to write down a list of things I wanted to accomplish at the beginning each new year. Even if I was not able to accomplish everything on that list, I found the act of setting my goals helped me to stay focused. As I got older, I was able to learn how to set realistic and measurable goals in both my career and personal life. One of my goals has been to curate an event series that will help millennial women start and grow prosperous businesses. This is because millennial women entrepreneurs face a unique set of challenges due to being women and being young. These challenges include lack of confidence, lack of financial literacy, limited access to capital and difficulty with business planning.

After months of planning, I am very excited to announce the first MASTERCLASS of the year. This MASTERCLASS will feature fashion designer Mary Young as a keynote. Mary Young is a Canadian-made lingerie and loungewear designer who creates fashionable yet comfortable clothing. I first came across Mary Young after spotting her signature triangle bras on Instagram. I really love her brand’s aesthetic and the fact that her brand empowers women to embrace their individual beauty. But it was watching Mary Young’s Creator Class feature that really inspired me (see below).

During the MASTERCLASS, Mary Young will share her start-up story and share how she sets goals for her business. In addition, attendees will learn how to set SMART goals and create their own inspiration boards. Attendees will also enjoy refreshments from our sponsors Sud Forno and the Bake Shoppe along with a curated gift bag.

The event will be held on Friday, January 29th, 2016 at Souvenir Studios in Toronto (1232 College Street West). Doors open at 5:30 PM. You must register in advance to attend. Registration is $25 and there are only 10 spots available for this exclusive event. Please register on Eventbrite here. I look forward to seeing you there!
